Consultant in Church-based Health Ministries

Dr. E. Anthony Allen completed medical training at the University of the West Indies over 40 years, graduate training in Psychiatry at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, UK and a Masters in Divinity at Yale University.

He worked for 24 years as a part-time lecturer and hospital consultant at the University of the West Indies. There he developed the teaching programme in psychotherapy and counselling for residents and medical students.

Dr. Allen also established the counselling programmes and psychiatric services for UWI students and staff at the Mona campus Health Center.

As a consultant in Church-based Health Ministries, Dr. Allen has pioneered community-based Whole Person Health Ministries in local congregations. He co-founded the Wholistsic Counselling and Healing Ministry of Bethel Baptist Church and the Jamaica Baptist Union. Dr. Allen has also served on the Christian Medical Commission of the World Council of Churches and carried out assignments for World Vision International. He has had speaking engagements in over thirty countries and has authored the books Caring for the Whole Person and Simple Steps to Wellness.

Since 1981, Dr. Allen has been in full time private practice. In his practice and through talks and workshops, he works with his patients, medical colleagues, churches and the public to help them empower self and others through a whole person approach to overcoming and wellness.
